The Opportunity:

The Facilities and Business Operations department is seeking a Zone Manager to lead a High-Performance Work Team (HPWT) responsible for housekeeping and maintenance services across multiple campus buildings. This role ensures operations align with industry, state, and university standards while promoting efficiency, transparency, and customer satisfaction. The Zone Manager also oversees daily staffing and serves as the primary customer liaison.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise housekeeping and maintenance teams, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.

  • Ensure compliance with university policies, state and federal regulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Develop internal controls to safeguard assets, maintain budget adherence, and optimize efficiency.

  •  Review and manage work orders in the Integrated Work Management System (IWMS).

  • Develop and oversee maintenance and housekeeping schedules, ensuring coordination with teams, vendors, inspectors, and stakeholders.

  • Prioritize workload, forecast manpower availability, and track progress through custom reports.

  • Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and compliance with UCF standards and regulations.

  • Submit and manage change requests to maintain optimal building upkeep and cleanliness.

  • Ensure all life safety and urgent work orders are addressed promptly.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, addressing requests and concerns in a timely manner.

  • Conduct regular service reviews with customers to assess quality and adjust services as needed.

  • Maintain transparent and consistent communication with stakeholders.

  • Enforce workplace safety procedures and ensure compliance with legal codes and regulations.

  • Provide employees with ongoing training in job functions, standards, and customer service.

  • Maintain accurate payroll and employee documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School or Equivalent and 4+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in facilities operations, housekeeping, or maintenance services.

  • Experience managing high-performing work teams in a large-scale facility or institutional setting.

  • Experience in a customer focused role where professionalism is needed along with the ability to maintain confidentiality and address sensitive matters appropriately and efficiently.

  • Knowledge of Integrated Work Management Systems (IWMS) and/or similar facility scheduling software.

  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, workplace safety protocols, and compliance standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement operational efficiencies and process improvements.

  • Ability to effectively coordinate with multiple stakeholders, vendors, and regulatory agencies.

  • Proficient in training staff on cleanliness standards and conducting quality audits to ensure service improvements.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and support employee development through effective onboarding and ongoing training.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders, contractors, and team members.

Health Assessment Required:  

The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $56,030 to $70,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

This position is eligible for 5% or 10% Shift Differential Pay of the pay range minimum. 

The selected candidate will be required to pass an extensive background investigation.

Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
