About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med/Surg RN) for a travel nursing assignment in Seymour, Indiana (zip code 47274). This travel nurse position includes both adult medical and pediatric patient care in a community hospital setting. Ideal candidates have strong Med/Surg clinical skills, pediatric experience, and prior travel nursing experience.

  • Guaranteed Hours: 34.5 hours per week
  • Bed Size: 2N (23 surgical beds), 3N (19 adult beds, 5 pediatric beds)
  • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:5, with LPN and CNA support

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience (Med/Surg RN)
  • Pediatric nursing experience required (pediatrics, pediatric nursing)
  • Current Indiana RN license or compact RN license (Registered Nurse)
  • American Heart Association BLS certification (required)
  • ACLS certification preferred (advanced cardiac life support)
  • At least 6 months of previous travel nursing experience (travel nurse)
  • Experience with Meditech charting / Meditech EMR and common unit equipment (telemetry, POC, vital signs monitors, Vein Viewer, bladder scanner)

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive Med/Surg nursing care to adult and pediatric patients on the unit
  • Perform head-to-toe assessments, monitor vital signs, administer medications, and manage IV therapy and blood administration
  • Operate and interpret telemetry, point-of-care (POC) devices, and bladder scanners as needed
  • Float between adult medical and surgical units (2N/3N) based on unit needs
  • Collaborate with LPNs, CNAs, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation using Meditech EMR
  • Participate in unit orientation and ongoing training with a preceptor to ensure safe, effective care
  • Adhere to professional appearance and dress code: neat, clean scrubs (no blue jean material), closed-toe shoes, minimal jewelry, hair secured
