) POSITION SUMMARY:

The Certified Nursing Assistant/Scheduler promotes quality of life and a home environment by knowing the residents and from the framework of that knowing helping with activities of daily living, and other direct care to residents as outlined in the interdisciplinary care plan, guided by the facility policies and under the direction of a licensed nurse. In addition, is responsible for the coordination and scheduling of all direct care employees as assigned.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Transportation Certified Nursing Assistant

ü Assist Health Center residents to and from appointments at the direction of the Transportation Coordinator

ü Participate on Nursing units when not transporting Residents.

ü Recognize the autonomy and dignity of all residents.

ü Communicate a sense of caring, concern, and dignity for residents.

ü Understand how to place decision-making in the hands of the residents whenever possible and appropriate.

ü Make prompt and accurate judgments regarding resident care and emergencies.

ü Work and communicate effectively as part of the unit team.

ü Serves on facility committees and work teams as assigned.

ü Participates in interdisciplinary care plan meetings.

ü Maintain all aspects of confidentiality regarding the residents and the facility.

ü Know and follow facility policies and procedures.

ü Use resources with consideration to cost.

ü Assist Staff with Resident Care, such as bathing, combing hair, brushing teeth, shaving, dressing, ambulation, and toileting and laundry as needed.

ü Records and documents are provided to the resident.

ü Obtain routine lab samples.

ü Help residents with equipment for their treatment and care.

ü Help residents to move, transfer from bed to chair, or transport them within the building or on the grounds.

ü Follow all infection control policies.

ü Observe the residents and surroundings and remove any potential hazards which could cause accidents.

ü Report to the nurse in charge of all information and observations about the residents in their care.

ü Other duties may be required and assigned.

Scheduler

ü Responsible for the weekly and daily scheduling of all nurses' aides and nurses within the nursing division of Overlook Masonic Health Center (OMHC).

ü Notifies all nurse's aides and nurses of their weekly schedule and any change in their schedule.

ü Updates and maintains the digital scheduling software with scheduling requirements and assigned staff.

ü Maintain updated master schedule for the nursing division of OMHC along with updated vacancy list and details.

ü Actively engage Team Members on the nursing units, by phone and through digital means (such as the scheduling program) for the purpose of filing staffing vacancies.

ü Work together with nursing leadership to ensure compliance with the approved manpower schedule and budget.

ü Coordinate with temporary staffing agencies to fill otherwise vacant scheduling needs within budget approval levels. Maintain files and include temporary staff within the necessary databases for business purposes.

ü Facilitate and support no less than a weekly staffing meeting with nursing leadership to review the staffing status and develop action plans to resolve identified deficiencies.

ü Assists with clerical duties as assigned.

ü Responsible for communicating appropriate information to the supervisors and Team Members.

ü Responsible to inform supervisor of problems or issues that prevent him/her from accomplishing his/her job responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational Requirements and Experience:

ü Must possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with the Massachusetts State regulations.

ü Prior experience working in long-term care preferred.
