Under the general direction of the Community Arts Admin/Manager, directs the vocals and choreography of the Town Square Summer Performance Group (The PIP’s).<strong> </strong>(Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics.   The list of tasks is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.)<br><ul><li>Oversees the work of other part time employees and volunteers during assigned shifts or tasks</li><li>Leads and facilitates effective and efficient communication between The PIP’s cast members and other related staff.</li><li>Helps with Arranges for, promotes and runs the auditions for cast members.  </li><li>In concert with and approval of the Community Arts Admin, selects cast members from those participating in the audition process.</li><li>In concert with and approval of Community Arts Admin/Manager, creates and adapts original song and dance numbers for public performance.</li><li>Creates rehearsal schedules with city staff so that the needs of cast members are met and the cast is prepared for performances.</li><li>Rehearses cast members including blocking, polishing, choreography and vocal coaching.</li><li>Leads cast in show preparation/selection for each week's performances.</li><li>Supervises performances as required.</li><li>Works with Community Arts Admin to learn and train cast members in set up and operation of sound equipment.</li><li>Works with City Education Specialists to learn, train cast members in, and lead weekly art activity as needed.</li><li>Drives mobile museum to city locations and leads set up and preparation for weekly art activities.</li><li>Supports other division and department programs and activities as needed.</li><li>Perform related duties as assigned.</li></ul><strong> </strong><br><strong>Typical Physical/Mental Demands/Working Conditions</strong><br>Conditions and temperatures may vary depending on the assignment.  Requires the use of vision and/or hearing to identify and evaluate emergencies.  Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies. Requires moderately heavy physical activity exerting 25-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently. Mental demands of intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.<br><br><strong><em>Note:   </em></strong>Must be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and other schedules to help prepare for<br>recreation offerings.  This is a part-time position with variable hours averaging less than 28 hours per week over a period of twelve months. <strong>Education: </strong>High school diploma or equivalent. Preference given to those with education in recreation performing arts or a related field.<br><strong></strong><br><strong>Experience:</strong><br>Related work experience in a responsible setting, preferably one that has performance and stage presence as well as directing experience.<br>Customer service experience preferred<br><strong></strong><br><strong>Licenses and/or Certifications:</strong><br>Must possess a valid driver license.
