Overview JOB DESCRIPTION Fanatics Betting and Gaming is seeking a qualified attorney to join our growing Legal and Compliance team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of privacy laws, including financial privacy laws, demonstrated experience advising businesses on regulatory obligations, and a strong understanding of privacy risk management. This role is instrumental in supporting the company’s privacy compliance framework, providing legal guidance across departments, and enhancing customer trust through responsible data practices. Key Responsibilities • Regulatory Compliance: Advise on compliance with U.S. and international privacy laws such as the CCPA/CPRA, GLBA, FCRA, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and other state and federal privacy regulations. • Financial Privacy: Serve as subject matter expert on financial privacy laws including GLBA, Reg P, and applicable SEC and CFPB guidance for financial services or fintech-related operations. • Product & Data Counseling: Partner with product, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure privacy-by-design principles are embedded into products and services. • Policy & Program Development: Help design, implement, and maintain privacy policies, internal protocols, and training initiatives across the organization. • Contract Negotiation & Review: Draft and negotiate data protection agreements (DPAs), vendor agreements, and terms involving data sharing, retention, and security obligations. • Incident Response Support: Provide legal counsel on data breach and incident response activities, including notification obligations and coordination with regulators. • Regulatory Monitoring & Risk Assessment: Stay abreast of developments in U.S. privacy law and proactively assess their impact on the business. Recommend changes to mitigate legal and reputational risk. • Strategic Legal Support: Educate internal teams on legal risks and best practices in marketing and brand strategy. Qualifications • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; licensed to practice law in New York or eligible for in-house counsel registration. • 4–6 years of relevant experience at a law firm or in-house legal department, ideally in gaming, tech, media, or entertainment. • Demonstrated expertise in consumer privacy (e.g., CCPA/CPRA) and financial privacy laws (e.g., GLBA). • Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills. • Experience advising on data use, adtech, consumer analytics, and/or AI-driven systems is a plus. • Effective communicator with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach and the ability to work cross-functionally. • CIPP/US required; additional privacy or security certifications a plus (e.g., CIPM, CIPT, CISSP). • Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide clear, actionable advice to cross-functional teams. • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and business acumen. Preferred Experience • Prior experience in a gambling, sports betting, or highly regulated industry. • Knowledge of state-by-state regulatory nuances related to gaming and marketing. • Familiarity with digital marketing tools, affiliate networks, and influencer compliance considerations. Salary range is listed in USD; ranges will change based on country and state of residence, which are reflected in Geographical Zones defined by Fanatics Betting and Gaming. *Salary Range: $200,000 to $230,000 (Salary range incorporates all of our Geographical Compensation Zones and is subject to change as the Zone associated with the actual Offer is confirmed).
