About the position Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer to design, build, and maintain secure data visualization solutions within a NIST 800-53 compliant enclave in support of the FAA BNATCS contract. This role is responsible for developing and managing data visualizations and BI reports to enhance contract performance insight. The BI Engineer will collaborate with cybersecurity, compliance, FAA data engineers and program management teams to ensure that all reports and dashboards meet federal security standards while enabling data driven decisions. Successful candidates in this position will possess the ability to deliver tangible solutions in a very fast paced and dynamic environment. They will also demonstrate the ability to be decisive while ensuring proper communication. This is a telework capable position; however, candidates must reside within 100 miles of the DC Metro local area. Responsibilities • Data Warehouse & Storage • Experience using secure data warehouse solutions (on-premises and/or cloud). • Understanding of storage, indexing, and query performance for large-scale datasets. • Awareness of encryption, access controls, and monitoring in line with NIST 800-53 requirements. • Data Visualization & Analytics • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into meaningful visualizations. • Develop dashboards and reports using BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx.). • Experience working with business processes and using visualizations to gather information on process health. • Ensure data owner approval has been obtained prior to building reports and dashboards. • Ensure reporting solutions and distribution meet customer compliance standards. • Security & Compliance • Integrate NIST 800-53 security controls into all data engineering processes. • Partner with cybersecurity teams to ensure secure configurations and continuous monitoring. • Support audits, assessments, and accreditation processes (e.g. FISMA, FedRAMP). • Collaboration & Leadership • Work closely with Data Integration and Cloud Engineers and Cybersecurity to deliver secure, reliable data solutions. • Follow technical guidance on data engineering best practices in regulated environments. • Document processes, configurations, and compliance evidence for internal and external reviews. Requirements • Minimum of 12+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, 10+ years of experience with a Master's degree, or 8+ years of experience with a PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields (Master’s preferred) • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with focus on dashboards and reports • Familiarity with NIST 800-53 security controls and compliance frameworks (FISMA, FedRAMP) • Proven ability building visualization tools in support of data driven decision-making • Familiarity with BI tools and data modeling techniques; PowerBI and Alteryx highly desirable • Working understanding of AWS cloud data platform and databases • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Public Trust is a requirement for this role • This is a telework capable position, however, candidates must reside within 100 miles of the DC Metro local area Nice-to-haves • Ability to translate management priorities into dashboard solutions • Professional certifications such as PMP, CISSP, CISM, or cloud data engineering certifications are highly desired • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent communication and documentation abilities • Experience working in federal or regulated environments Apply tot his job
