About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Platform Software Engineer to own the architectural integrity, scalability, and reliability of our core marketplace systems.
Our platform processes real-time transactions between buyers and sellers and requires strict latency control, high availability, and data integrity.

You will work closely with the CTO and DevOps team to evolve and stabilise high-load distributed systems.

AI-assisted development is part of our engineering model. We expect you to use AI tools to accelerate development and refactoring — while maintaining full ownership of architectural decisions and system quality.

Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve scalable backend services and APIs
  • Architect and refactor legacy components into modular, maintainable systems
  • Define and enforce architectural standards and engineering best practices
  • Optimise high-load systems (performance tuning, indexing, caching)
  • Design robust data models and implement complex business logic
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate development, refactoring, and analysis
  • Review, validate, and refine AI-generated code
  • Contribute to cloud-native infrastructure decisions (Azure/AWS)
  • Improve observability, logging, fault tolerance, and resilience
  • Collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines and release processes
  • Participate in security hardening initiatives

AI Expectations

We expect engineers to:

  • Use AI tools daily as part of their workflow
  • Critically evaluate and refine AI-generated output
  • Maintain full ownership of correctness and architectural decisions
  • Continuously improve personal productivity through automation
  • Contribute to evolving AI-assisted development standards

AI is a multiplier, not a replacement for engineering judgment.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in backend development (C#/.NET or similar stack)
  • Strong experience with ASP.NET Core or equivalent frameworks
  • Solid understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, and design patterns
  • Experience designing scalable architectures and RESTful APIs
  • Deep knowledge of MSSQL/PostgreSQL (query optimisation, indexing)
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies, JavaScript/TypeScript, frontend frameworks
  • Experience with distributed systems and microservices
  • Experience with performance profiling and debugging tools
  • Experience with caching strategies (Redis or similar)
  • Understanding of eventual consistency and data integrity trade-offs
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience deploying to Azure or AWS
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools productively
  • Strong code review and system reasoning skills
  • English B2+

Nice to Have

  • Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Experience with high-load or real-time marketplaces
  • Experience with Angular/React

What We Value

  • Systems thinking over feature hacking
  • Ownership mindset
  • Ability to balance speed with structural integrity
  • Comfort working in a compact, high-impact team
