Job Purpose

  • To provide an artwork, repro and prepress service to Graphic Packaging sites from a central point in accordance with client briefs, SOP’s for technical specifications whilst maintaining excellent quality standards.
  • This will require multi-tasking reprographics tasks in priority order, repro 1up tasks, final downloads, 1st stage approvals, TM checks and support the Team Leader with any tasks requested and ensure their expectations are met.
  • Support external/internal sales with technical questions.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Artwork preflight ensuring brand consistency for FMCG client base and for technical specifications.
  • Prepare accurate artworks & repro from approved design and client brief.
  • Creating print-ready artwork for packaging meeting all production specifications and requirements.
  • Checking and amending existing artwork as required.
  • Check design files and images provided by design agencies and graphic service provider.
  • Check GSP contract proofs for accuracy and colour profile standard.
  • Produce Internal GMG contract proofs.
  • Progress jobs through Esko workflows to meet deadlines and multi-site production requirements.
  • Support the Graphics Team Leader with repro assessment tasks into the graphics department.
  • Perform quality checking of 1st stage artwork approvals.
  • Efficiently download print ready files and version control.
  • Manage the inbox and delegate emails as necessary.
  • Develop and update master artworks and guideline documentation.
  • Calibration of proofing, CTP and measurement equipment.
  • Ensure client guidelines and department SOP’s are followed at all times.
  • Work closely with the Graphics Team Leader on final delivery requirements.
  • Report any defective equipment / software or system failures to line manager.
  • Carry out regular maintenance to equipment and keeping it clean and tidy.
  • May be required to communicate with customers either face to face or via telephone conference about existing or upcoming designs. This may also include travelling to customer premises.
  • Ensure working environment, which includes digital desktop as well as physical desktop and office area, is kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Cover for absenteeism and holidays as and when required
  • To undertake any reasonable request as directed by your Line Manager/Team Leader.
  • Succession is a key part of the role with a clear training plan provided to potentially train as succession for a team leader role in the future.

Key Skills:

  • Must have excellent knowledge of artwork, repro and prepress software that includes Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign and Esko Artpro/Artpro+, Automation Engine & WebCenter.
  • Must fully understand the artwork, repro and prepress process for the packaging industry.

  • Liaise with Graphics Team Leader to obtain correct information.
  • Adhere to all reporting processes set up within the department and make suggestions for improvements to the process.
  • Ensure the Graphics Team Leader is kept informed of the progress of the jobs you are working on, and of any impact to the production plan.
