Major League Baseball (MLB) is seeking an editorial/social producer for MLB Pipeline, dedicated to coverage of prospects and Minor League Baseball. The role involves writing, editing, and producing content for MLB.com and MiLB.com, as well as managing social media channels to promote this content.


Responsibilities

  • Edit and post content for use on com, MiLB.com, team and partner websites
  • Use social media to promote content
  • Write prospect- and Minor League-focused articles for MLB.com and MiLB.com
  • Request video highlights and provide metadata for the clips
  • Update the sites quickly and accurately
  • Write interesting headlines, captions, blurbs
  • Manage and update MLB Pipeline’s comprehensive ranking of the top prospects in each MLB organization
  • Collaborate with multimedia department to ensure appropriate and relevant video is being used with each story
  • Select and crop photos to pair with stories, prospect lists and other packages
  • Make judgments on story significance and arrange content into lead packages on the sites
  • Communicate with the rest of the content team to ensure that all content is accurately placed on the various sites

Skills

  • Ability to write and produce compelling, concise content on deadline
  • Thorough knowledge of baseball -- specifically about prospects and the Minor Leagues
  • Position may require work at night and on weekends
  • Experience with content management systems and web publishing
  • Strong copy-editing skills
  • Knowledge of social media and SEO
  • Basic HTML and Photoshop skills
  • Ability to work well under deadline and in fast-paced situations with multiple responsibilities
  • Strong communication, presentation and organization skills
  • Must be able and willing to work as part of a team, and receptive to feedback
  • Facility with written Spanish is not required but beneficial
