Job Description:

Provides professional nursing services for patients and their families and/or for the nursing department. Collaborates with other health care providers and health care team members to achieve expected patient outcomes and improve the care environment. Nurses use the nursing process and evidence based practice to coordinate and provide direct care and services that support care.

Senior Level III Registered Nurse (RN):

The Senior Level III RN is accountable for the provision of expert patient care, including service to patients with complex needs. The Senior Level III serves as a unit staff mentor and has increased responsibilities that may include staff orientation, patient care coordination, shift charge nurse, and or other unit/service/ nursing department, or hospital practice activities. The Senior Level III Registered Nurse may assume an expanded unit role as assigned by Nurse Manager. The Level III nurse supports peers in the delivery of patient care, uses and role models team communication methods and coaches others in team communication principles. The Senior Level III nurse documents care that reflects the patient condition and priorities and coaches others to use professional and complete documentation. The Senior Level III nurse provides support to team problem solving. The Senior Level III nurse identifies opportunities for self-growth and takes a leadership role for the development of other learners. The Senior Level III nurse contributes to safe unit environment and operations by interpreting policy and procedures, sharing new evidence with peers, adhering to standards, monitoring care and operational outcomes, and supporting efficiencies in care. The Senior Level III nurse identifies potential problems and demonstrates an enhanced level of critical decision making and conflict management skills. The Senior Level III nurse identifies learning needs of others and patient safety issues, and develops an appropriate plan of action based on best practices.

3-5 years recent RN expertise in an acute care setting.

Licensed by New York State to practice as a Registered Nurse.

Current CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers preferred).

BS in nursing preferred.
