The St. Cloud City Attorney's Office is looking to hire a Paralegal I/Victim Assistance Coordinator. This is a professional legal position performing work in the City Attorney's office. Individuals in this job classification must be able to perform a wide variety of legal services for staff attorneys. Work is performed independently under general supervision of the City Attorney and is reviewed primarily in terms of results obtained. This position may also receive work guidance from staff attorneys and Paralegal II. Key Responsibilities:

  • Collects, organizes, analyzes, and evaluates relevant data for case presentation; summarizes and assembles facts, records, pleadings, exhibits, and witnesses in regards to disputes, hearings, or trials, etc.;
  • Takes oral and written statements; drafts and prepares certain legal documents, including but not limited to: summons, complaints, notices of motion, motions, affidavits, and other documents relevant to the City Attorney's practice;
  • Arranges for signatures, handles routine legal research; drafts routine legal memoranda; interacts with parties and citizens by preparing correspondence and responding to routine citizen inquiries;
  • Arranges to have actions placed on the court calendar; notifies plaintiffs, arranges for papers to be served upon defendants and other parties;
  • Prepares and files correspondence and legal documents pertaining to civil and criminal proceedings;
  • Compiles data and performs research of legal nature in the preparation of reports;
  • Performs crime victim/witness assistance. Trains law enforcement and other personnel regarding victim issues;
  • Compiles statistical and financial data pertaining to labor union contracts;
  • Performs other work as required and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: To qualify, applicants must have a J.D. from an accredited law school and a current license to practice in the State of Minnesota.

Salary Information: $59,793 - $80,386. On January 1, 2027, there will be a 4.75% increase to all steps of all ranges.
