Packaging Operator (Packer)

Position Overview:

We are looking to fill positions for Packaging Operators. Under the general direction of a Packaging Lead, the packaging line general help is responsible to perform a variety of duties including but not limited to setting up packaging line, sorting, boxing, palletizing, and housekeeping. This person must be comfortable with working in a production area and standing for extended hours. This position will report to the Production Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing finished product through packaging machines
  • Assembling boxes, packing bagged product from the packaging tables into cases and placing them on pallets
  • Print and apply labels to cases, inspecting finished product
  • Involved in equipment cleaning, some housekeeping responsibilities, and other duties as assigned
  • Applicant must be able to be on their feet for 8 - 12 hours, keep up with a fast, repetitious pace and can perform repetitious lifting
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime as needed
  • Places the correct number of packages into cartons
  • Checks to make sure that the correct cartons and label are at the packaging station
  • Inspects the quality of the finished product, case, and pallet.
  • Places the packed cartons on the skids in the appropriate manner. Verifies that the correct number of cartons is on each skid
  • Watches the product while traveling through production process to ensure a high-quality product
  • Removes any product not meeting quality standards from the line

Essential Job Functions:

  • Quickly sort and separate processed product
  • Make boxes
  • Fill boxes with bagged product
  • Apply correct label in appropriate orientation
  • Stack and palletize product for shipping
