The ideal candidate has high attention to detail and deep knowledge of medical terminology. This role is fully remote with a flexible schedule.</p><p><b>Preferred qualifications:</b> 3+ years\\\' experience at an Academic Level Facility. EPIC and 3M360 experience is a plus. Observation coding requires extensive I&I experience. SDS includes but is not limited to Interventional radiology, transplant surveillance, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, ENT, EGD and colonoscopies, urology, pacemaker/AICD, trauma, plastic surgery. 20 hours weekly.</p><h2>What You Will Do</h2><ul><li>Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.</li><li>Assign and sequence codes accurately based on medical record documentation.</li><li>Assign the appropriate discharge disposition.</li><li>Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements.</li><li>Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate personnel for follow up and resolution.</li><li>Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate and a 95% accuracy rate for APC assignment; meet site-designated productivity standards.</li><li>Track continuing education credits to maintain professional credentials.</li><li>Attend Datavant Health sponsored education meetings/in-services.</li><li>Demonstrate initiative and judgment in the performance of job responsibilities.</li><li>Communicate with co-workers, management, and hospital staff regarding clinical and reimbursement issues.</li><li>Function in a professional, efficient, and positive manner.</li><li>Adhere to the American Health Information Management Association’s code of ethics.</li><li>Be customer-service focused with professionalism, flexibility, dependability, and a desire to learn.</li><li>Handle high complexity of work function and decision-making; possess strong organizational and teamwork skills.</li><li>Be willing and able to travel when necessary if applicable.</li><li>Comply with all HIM Division Policies.</li></ul><h2>What You Need to Succeed</h2><ul><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, CRC).</li><li>Strong time management skills; adeptness in remote work.</li><li>Experience in computerized encoding and abstracting software.</li><li>Must take and pass annual HIPAA examinations or other testing as required.</li><li>Proficiency in coding specialties (Emergency Department, Same Day Surgery, Ancillary, Observation, Injections/Infusions, E/M leveling).</li><li>Must communicate effectively in English.</li><li>2+ years of coding experience in hospital or coding consulting.</li><li>Experience with applicable encoding and abstracting software.</li></ul><h2>What We Offer</h2><ul><li>Benefits for full-time employees: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k with match, 2 weeks PTO, paid holidays, floating holidays.</li><li>Free CEUs every year.</li><li>Education and professional dues stipend where applicable.</li><li>Equipment: monitor, laptop, mouse, headset, and keyboard.</li><li>Comprehensive training led by a credentialed professional coding manager.</li><li>Mentorship and service-oriented management.</li></ul><p>Pay ranges vary by location, responsibilities, skills, experience, and other requirements.
