Job Summary

ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. The transformational acquisitions of Concho Resources Inc. and Shell Enterprises LLC’s prolific positions in the Delaware and Midland Basins in 2021 further strengthened the company’s position in the Permian Basin. At year-end 2024, the company held over 1 million total net acres in the Permian Basin.

During 2024, net production averaged 775 MBOED.

Position Overview

The Operations Engineering Analyst supports Permian Production Operations by turning complex data into clear insights that improve safety, reliability, and performance. The role develops and maintains dashboards, visualizations, and analytics tools that help leaders make informed decisions. We welcome candidates with strong data analytics experience from any industry.

Your responsibilities may include:

Operational Insight

  • Build and maintain data visualizations and dashboards to track production, downtime, efficiency, and operational trends

  • Translate data findings into clear insights that support day-to-day and long-term operational decisions

Quality & Integration

  • Improve data accuracy, consistency, and usability across operational datasets

  • Support smooth data flow between systems, field data capture platforms, and internal reporting tools

Collaboration & Support

  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, HSE, Supply Chain, IT, and field teams to understand needs and deliver practical solutions

  • Help strengthen digital workflows and analytics capabilities across the organization

  • Support rollout process es for tools and dashboards, including education and support of end users

  • Help with the administration of key applications, systems, and dashboards

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities that enhance operational performance

  • Support projects focused on data integration, workflow improvements, and analytics modernization

Success Profile

  • Makes Decisions - Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical

  • Demonstrates Financial/Quantitative Acumen - Understands how key financial and quantitative indicators impact the business

  • Partners Collaboratively - Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • E xperience transforming complex data into actionable insights

  • E xperience working with large datasets or operational data systems used to support daily operations

  • Intermediate proficiency with a data visualization platform (such as Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau, Qlik, Looker, etc.)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data/Computer Science , MIS, Engineering, or similar technical field

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Clear communication skills for both technical and non technical audiences

  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions and levels

  • Exposure to SQL, Python, or similar languages

  • Exposure to Snowflake or other data warehousing solutions

  • Experience improving data workflows or supporting data driven initiatives

  • Understanding of HSE, engineering, maintenance, or field operations concepts
