Primary Purpose This position provides basic operational technical insights to stakeholders, regarding the secure, networking solutions being deployed within the enterprise/real-time environments. Network Administrators will monitor and maintain fundamental networking initiatives and projects, within these secure environments. The IT Network Administrator will provide technical knowledge to support the secure delivery and maintenance of network solutions supporting Exelon. Must have the ability to evaluate network/telecom services and make recommendations for supporting infrastructure service, application and data workloads within various hosting models. Demonstrate skills for basic monitoring, configuration and maintenance of current network services and related security controls, to primarily support site-based connectivity and real time control environments. This role will work in collaboration with other IT teams, their leadership, enterprise business partners, vendors and project/design teams, in all aspects of the secure & reliable network services serving as transport for services/applications throughout Exelon's large and complex enterprise and real time operational environments. This position is for shift work in a 24 X 7 enterprise Network Operations Center. Prior NOC experience is preferred but not required. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies. Ability to work different shifts, off-hours, holidays, and weekends (shift coverage, on-call rotation, primary shift adjustment, etc.) There will be 2 shifts available. 1st shift: 7am-7pm (alternating 3x4 schedule - 3 days on, 4 days off, etc.) 3rd shift: 7pm-7am (alternating 3x4 schedule - 3 days on, 4 days off, etc.) Note: This is a hybrid position (in-office with remote flexibility). Employees are required to be in office at least three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). You must be able to commute within our services area to be considered (Baltimore or Owings Mills, MD). No relocation is available.

Responsibilities

  • Support projects, planning, maintenance and operations. Consults with leadership, project teams, application/service support teams and end users to support availability and perform feasibility analysis on potential changes related to the secure enterprise or real-time network environments. (50%)
  • Work closely with peers to develop future improvement plans, resource requirements, migration strategies, and project schedules. Understand other technologies and service offerings and their impact to the delivery of secure enterprise or real-time network environments. (20%)
  • Maintain technical knowledge and business acumen within our own discipline or function. (15%)
  • Provide evaluation, testing, lab and mockup solutions as needed. Serve as a resource in assigned daily support and deployments to operations and ensure solutions meet business requirements and operational metrics (SLAs). sponsible for operating and maintaining solutions at the component level, including hands-on configuration, troubleshooting and metrics for the secure network environments. (10%)
  • Raise risks identified during business impact analysis, site risk assessments and disaster recovery planning. (5%)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline and 2-4 years' relevant experience in network/telecom support or 3-6 equivalent combination of education and work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make multiple decisions simultaneously which impact areas of direct responsibility
  • Demonstrates the ability to determine if hardware problems require vendor dispatch for on-site service/repair.
  • Proficiency to successfully demonstrate knowledge of standards and procedures in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply basic monitoring concepts and how tools are used to meet those requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate Asset Management tasks in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
  • Has training, direct exposure, or experience working with Process Improvement.
