The Interconnections & Permit Specialist is a full-time position and offers room to grow within IE Construction.</p><p><br></p><p>The Interconnection & Permit Specialist oversees the administrative and regulatory processes required to obtain utility interconnection approvals and AHJ permits for solar & electrical installation projects, both residential and large-scale commercial. The role requires independent decision-making, coordination with internal teams, and direct communication with utilities and permitting agencies to ensure projects move forward on schedule. This position serves as a central point of coordination between design, engineering, project management, sales, and regulatory authorities, proactively identifying and resolving issues that could delay project approval.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities Include, but not limited to:</p><p><br></p><p>Utility Interconnection Management:</p><p><br></p><p>· Manage and submit utility interconnection applications across multiple utility territories.</p><p>· Review project documentation and coordinate with engineering and design teams to verify technical accuracy prior to submission.</p><p>· Monitor utility portals and regulatory platforms for application status updates, required corrections, and approvals.</p><p>· Exercise independent judgment to resolve interconnection issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.</p><p>· Maintain accurate tracking systems for all interconnection applications and timelines.</p><p>· Serve as the internal subject matter resource for utility interconnection requirements and processes.</p><p>· Communicate application status and potential risks to Project Managers and Operations leadership</p><p><br></p><p>Pay Rate: $28.00 - $33.00 an hour</p><p><br></p><p>Permitting Coordination:</p><p><br></p><p>· Prepare and submit solar permit packages to applicable Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs). Consistently follow up with AHJs on lead times, corrections, and resubmittals</p><p>· Coordinate corrections, resubmittals, and clarifications with design and engineering teams. Follow up with Design for any outstanding requests</p><p>· Maintain regular communication with permitting agencies to track approval timelines and resolve issues.</p><p>· When needed, pick up approved permits/corrections in person, or schedule a tech</p><p>· Maintain organized project documentation including permits, approved plans, and regulatory records.</p><p>· Ensure company business licenses required for project jurisdictions remain current and compliant.</p><p>· Communicate with the team on all approvals, delays, corrections and estimated issue dates</p><p>· Assist with scheduling inspections</p><p>Cross-Functional Coordination:</p><p>· Report to Project Managers and Operations Director daily and weekly on various project stages</p><p>· Participation in weekly meetings and on site, if needed</p><p>· Work with our sales team to address any escalated contract/project issues and work together to solve them.</p><p><br></p><p>Preferred Qualifications:</p><p><br></p><p>· 3–5+ years experience in solar permitting, construction permitting or utilities</p><p>· Strong understanding of utility interconnection processes or construction permitting.</p><p>· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously</p><p>· Strong written and verbal communication skills</p><p>· Familiarity with AHJ permitting processes and utility interconnection portals</p><p>· Experience working with project management systems and document tracking tools</p><p>· MS Office</p><p>· Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment</p><p><br></p><p>IE Construction offers:</p><p><br></p><p>· Medical, dental, and vision plans</p><p>· Paid Holidays</p><p>· 401K</p><p>· Weekly pay</p><p><br></p><p>If you’re looking for a growing, profitable, productive, and supportive company that believes in personal and professional growth, we're looking for you.</p><p>Benefits:</p><p><br></p><ul><li>401(k)</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Employee discount</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul><p><br></p><p>People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply</p><p><br></p><p>Work Location: Remote</p>
