Job Description

As a Housekeeping Assistant, your primary role is to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness within our care home. You will take immense pride in your work and collaborate effectively with the housekeeping team to ensure that cleaning tasks are executed according to the established schedule. Your efforts are essential in creating a clean, inviting, and hospitable environment for our residents, guests, and visitors, contributing to the exceptional 5-star experience offered by our care homes.

  • Coordination and Collaboration: In our care home, different departments work harmoniously together and communication is of vital importance. All departments must work together seamlessly to provide comprehensive care to residents. Effective internal communication fosters coordination and collaboration among these departments, ensuring that everyone is on the same page and working towards common goals.
  • Cleaning Excellence: Perform cleaning duties with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that all areas within the care home, including residents' rooms, common areas, and facilities, are spotless and well-maintained.
  • Develop a positive relationship with all residents, team, and other visitors to the home by becoming an integral part of the team.
  • Encourage residents to assist you with daily work activity, helping them to promote their independence and sense of worth.
  • Maintain the highest standard of personal presentation and hygiene.
  • Support the Head Housekeeper in reporting any defects or damage to furnishings within the home.
  • Ensure that products being used have been specifically selected for the purpose.
  • Carry out any reasonable instruction from the Head Housekeeper or Hospitality Manager.
  • Complete cleaning documentation in line with company policy
  • Ensure that infection control policies and universal precautions are always followed.
  • Carry out deep cleaning in line with Boutique Care Homes procedures.
  • Work safely within company policies, seeking advice and guidance when necessary.
  • Understand the cleaning requirements of different surfaces and coverings and the properties of cleaning materials to ensure that all areas are well presented and maintained in good condition.
  • Ensure through agreed schedules of work that infection control standards are achieved.
  • Be aware of and ensure compliance with COSHH regulations and keep all required records.
  • Regularly monitor the stock and condition of our linen, bedding etc. and agree repairs and replacement with your Line Manager.
  • Complete any mandatory training specified during the induction and thereafter to ensure that you are competent to fulfil the responsibilities of your role.
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions as required for the better performance of your duties.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience in housekeeping or cleaning, ideally within a healthcare or hospitality setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness.
  • Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting and bending.
  • Teamwork and communication skills to work effectively within a housekeeping team.
  • Dedication to providing exceptional service and creating a welcoming environment.
  • Adherence to hygiene and safety protocols.
  • Flexibility to accommodate changes in workload or scheduling as necessary.
  • Demonstrate ability to be a team player.
