Camp IHC is looking for energetic, compassionate, and ambitious Head RN to join our Health and Wellness team for the 2026 summer season. Camp IHC is a great place to gain and/or build upon pediatric healthcare experience! The work session would include 2 weeks of training followed by 7 weeks of camp (6/10/26--8/12/26). 

In addition to your contracted salary, room and board is also provided. Additionally you will have private accommodation including en-suite bathroom, A/C and wifi. During your time off you can enjoy all that Camp IHC has to offer, including the lake, pool, nature trails, gym, and much more! Some of your job duties include:

  • Communicates directly with HAWC Director

  • Oversee the opening/closing of the health center

  • Assist in co-leading staff orientation

  • Medication administration

    • Daily medication, OTC and trip packing

  • Clinic Call (think triage and treat)

  • Care of inpatient campers

  • Maintain accurate medical records, logs

  • Diabetic and Seizure Management

  • Write orders for the physician- scripts and X-rays

  • Coordinate scheduling and transportation to outside appointments

  • Emergency response

  • Professional pediatric medicine in a fun and spontaneous environment

Job Summary:

The Head RN will manage and oversee the health & safety other medical staff, administering meds, treating injuries, handling emergencies, maintains records, communicates with parents/ HAWC director and other camp directors,, conducts health training, ensures compliance (ACA/state), and performs daily rounds to monitor camper/staff well-being and facility risks, acting as a crucial link to local healthcare providers.

Head RN’s daily responsibilities are: 

  • Communicates directly with HAWC Director

  • Assist in co-leading staff orientation

  • Medication Management with training to all RN’s (administration and treatments)

  • Assess, treat, and provide immediate first aid for illnesses and injuries.

  • Trip Packing Medication with education to all RN’s

  • DIabetic Support Aid during the day with training to an overnight RN

  • Training and assisting with Oral Immunotherapy/ Tolerance Induction Program/SoCal, Allergy shots, Growth Hormones, and high-risk campers with seizure disorders

  • Write orders for the physician- scripts and X-rays

  • Order medication from the pharmacy

  • Coordinate scheduling and transportation to outside appointments ( x-rays, orthodontist, or other appointments)

  • Partial parent communication with documentation in Campfront and notification to HAWC and Camper Directors

  • Assisting with and coordinating patient care.

  • Allocating nursing and healthcare resources where needed.

  • Oversee the opening/closing of the health center, including inventory and supply ordering.

  • Maintain accurate medical records, logs, and reports both papercopy and EMR

  • Communicate health information to health and wellness staff.

Hours:

  • 6  8-10hr days 1 day off a week

  • No overnight needed unless staffing issues. 

  • On call for any medical emergency or overnight nursing help
