Job Summary

Progressive Technology is actively seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Freelance Proofreader with a background in Nursing, Healthcare, or Medical Sciences to join our growing team. In this role, you will ensure the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of medical content written by healthcare professionals, academic researchers, and students. This is a remote, freelance opportunity ideally suited for individuals with a strong command of English and subject-matter expertise in healthcare-related fields.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proofread and edit a variety of nursing and medical documents, including academic manuscripts, case studies, whitepapers, journal articles, training materials, and research reports.

  • Ensure content meets high standards of grammar, punctuation, tone, and medical accuracy.

  • Verify correct usage of medical terminologies, drug names, anatomical references, and APA/AMA citation styles.

  • Maintain confidentiality and protect client-sensitive information.

  • Work with the editorial and content teams to meet project-specific formatting and submission guidelines.

  • Deliver high-quality work within agreed deadlines.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or a related field.

  • Exceptional command of the English language – both written and verbal.

  • Strong proofreading, editing, and copyediting skills.

  • Familiarity with referencing styles such as APA, AMA, MLA, or Vancouver.

  • Ability to understand complex medical jargon and translate it into clear, readable content.

  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.

  • Comfortable working independently in a remote setting.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in medical writing, academic editing, proofreading, or clinical documentation.

  • Prior experience editing for scientific journals, nursing coursework, or healthcare publications is highly desirable.

  • Freelancers with a portfolio of academic or medical editing samples will be given preference.
