We are currently in search of Fair Consultants to help grow the Book Fair business. These full-time positions offer medical, dental and vision benefits, a Paid Time Off program that includes vacation, personal, and sick time, a generous 50% off discount on Scholastic merchandise, 401k with a company match, and summers off.

In additions to the base rate, Scholastic offers a Sales Compensation program which includes the opportunity to earn seasonal and annual incentives.

Base Hourly Range:

$22.00 to $26.00

Qualified candidate will be able to achieve budgeted Fair Counts, net revenue and overall sales program goals in assigned territory through effective execution of the sales and servicing methods of the company. They will support our mission to encourage reading and promote lifelong learning and demonstrate our values of caring and respect for all people.


Summary: Flex Fair Consultant is responsible for maximizing Book Fair penetration by effectively prospecting new schools and by building strong customer relationships to maintain Fair rebooking rates. Sharp planning skills will minimize cancellations and optimize event schedules, ensuring smooth operations and maximized profits. Ultimately, you'll be a passionate advocate for reading, igniting a love for books within every school you serve. This role does not have an assigned area but will support the territory pod as a whole until an opening becomes available.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Revenue Growth:

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and maximize sales opportunities within the assigned territory.
  • Identify new business opportunities and cultivate relationships with prospective customers to expand market presence and drive sales growth.

Customer Account Maintenance and Growth:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to understand their needs, preferences, and challenges.
  • Proactively engage with customers to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities and drive incremental revenue from existing accounts.

Relationship Building:

  • Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, and influencers within customer organizations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing expert guidance, product recommendations, and solutions to meet their business objectives.

Territory Management:

  • Effectively manage territory activities, including prospecting, lead generation, pipeline management, and sales forecasting.
  • Utilize CRM systems and sales tools to track customer interactions, manage sales pipelines, and optimize territory performance.

Market Intelligence:

  • Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Gather and analyze customer feedback and market data to inform sales strategies and product development initiatives.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Sales Acumen:

  • Understanding of sales techniques, negotiation skills, and closing strategies.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
  • Skill in identifying customer needs and presenting solutions effectively.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation and telephone skills with an aptitude for customer relationship building.
  • Ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.

Time Management and Organization:

  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to execute a vision, manage multiple priorities, and achieve results.

Additional Skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office software, SalesForce/CRM technology and telecommuting software such as Zoom, WebEx, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with peers, superiors (cross functional and throughout the organization) and customers.
  • Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal laws, including but not limited to OSHA, DOT, and EEOC.


Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of proven successful sales experience in telephone sales, personal selling, and customer service.
  • Proven track record of success in sales, with a focus on revenue growth and customer relationship management.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, or related field.
