Experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer Company: The Boeing Company The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer to join the Finance Systems and Analytics (FS&A) team in Tukwila, WA. The selected candidate will design, develop, and maintain advanced analytics solutions that deliver step-function business improvement. As the Data Visualization Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the Finance Analytics full‑stack Development team, you will partner with expert Data Engineers and Data Scientists to deliver analytics solutions across Finance. The ideal candidate will: Have 3+ years of hands‑on experience building analytics applications, dashboards, and data visualizations for business users Design, implement, and optimize interactive dashboards and self‑service analytics that surface actionable insights for Finance stakeholders Translate business requirements into intuitive User Interface (UI)/User Experience (UX), data models, and visualization patterns using tools such as React, R-Shiny, Tableau, or equivalent Build front‑end components and analytical interfaces using web technologies and frameworks (e.g., JavaScript, React, TypeScript) Possess domain knowledge in Finance (e.g., Earned Value Management (EVM), accounting, treasury, reconciliation, payments, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)) or equivalent business‑facing experience to partner effectively with Finance SMEs Communicate analytical findings, tradeoffs, and User Experience (UX) decisions clearly to non‑technical stakeholders and leadership Integrate analytics apps with backend data services and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and collaborate with Data Engineers to ensure performance and secure data access Work effectively in collaborative analytics environments using modern engineering practices (code reviews, feature branches, agile delivery) and provide technical leadership across cross‑functional teams Position Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain analytics applications, interactive dashboards, and embedded visualizations that support Finance decision‑making Create reusable visualization components, templates, and style guides to ensure consistency and scalability across analytics products Implement performant data queries, caching, and pagination strategies in conjunction with Data Engineers to optimize user experience Build integrations with authentication, authorization, and export mechanisms to meet security and compliance needs Instrument dashboards and apps with logging, usage metrics, and alerts to monitor adoption, performance, and data quality issues Mentor peers on visualization best practices, accessibility, and effective storytelling with data Collaborate closely with Data Engineering, Security, and Compliance to ensure analytics solutions meet scalability, reliability, and governance standards Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human Centered Design, Data Visualization, or a related technical/quantitative field 3+ years of experience designing, building, and operating analytics applications, dashboards, and interactive data visualizations for business users Experience with SQL and querying relational and cloud data warehouses (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, BigQuery) Experience with one or more BI and visualization platforms (e.g., React, R-Shiny, Tableau, etc) and experience creating scalable report templates and semantic layers Experience developing front end analytics components using web technologies (e.g., JavaScript, React, TypeScript) or embedding visualizations in web apps Experience with data modeling for analytics, metrics/metric layer design, and performance tuned query patterns Experience integrating dashboards with backend services and APIs, and working with Data Engineers to design efficient data access Experience with version control and collaborative development practices (Git, code reviews, branching) Ability to translate business requirements into intuitive user experiences, clear KPIs, and auditable visualizations Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Master’s Degree or higher in a technical discipline or equivalent advanced experience Experience with infrastructure as code and automation tools and arenaflex/CD for data infrastructure Experience with monitoring and observability for data systems (logging, metrics, alerting, lineage tools) Experience with cloud platforms and managed analytics services (arenaflex Web Services (AWS)/arenaflex Cloud Platform (GCP)/Azure), and basic understanding of containerization or deployment pipelines Experience with security, privacy, and governance for sensitive financial data, including access controls, encryption, and SOX/compliance requirements Experience in Finance domain (EVM, accounting, treasury, reconciliation, payments, FP&A) or working closely with Finance SMEs Ability to mentor and provide technical leadership across cross‑functional teams Conflict of Interest: Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.
