General Description and Classification Standards
Performs a wide variety of ground maintenance services to maintain and enhance the beautification of the City of Atlanta. Duties may include, but are not limited to garbage and recycling collection; cleaning, performing repairs, and other general maintenance; landscaping using hand and power tools including saws, shovels, blowers, lawnmowers, etc. Individuals entering this level must already possess the basic knowledge of the work and the required motor skills and physical capabilities to carry out basic tasks. Typically performs the simplest pertinent tasks, assists higher level workers in more complex jobs, Prepares or puts away tools. Supervision Received Works under general supervision, typically as part of a work crew with responsibility for completion of assigned tasks.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

May perform other duties as assigned.

Performs general lawn care, landscaping, and maintenance for assigned areas; mows and trims grass, removes clippings, leaves, and debris from grounds area; prunes bushes and trees using hand and power tools including lawnmowers, saws, weed eaters, pruners, blowers, etc.; removes illegal signs from street signs, light, and utility poles.

Performs grounds maintenance; picks up litter, debris, bulk trash, etc.; sweeps, rakes and blows walkways, parking lots, natural lands, and other public areas.

Prepares and operates various types of equipment involved in street cleaning, Performs waste and recycling collection; collects waste and recycling material along established routes through residential streets and alleys, or through business and industrial areas.

Maintains equipment and truck; cleans and inspects truck prior to beginning routes to ensure safe operating condition; inspects equipment; completes reports for defective equipment.

Decision Makinq
Follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.

Leadership Provided
None. May oversee temporary or contract workers as needed. Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

It is not an exhaustive list Knowledge of the safe and efficient operations of the various types of large equipment used by the solid waste division of the Public Works Department. Skill in operating vehicles, equipment, and tools. Must be physically able to operate a variety of job related machines at level requirements for active work. Must be able to perform physical labor as well as move or carry related objects or materials, Requires the ability to effectively use written and verbal communication to convey or exchange professional information. Requires the ability to learn and understand subject matter principles and techniques. Required to make independent judgments In absence of supervision. Ability to acquire and expound on knowledge of topic related to primary occupation. Requires the ability to use simple mathematical formulas; add and subtract; multiply and divide, determine percentages; and determine or interpret time and weight Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width. and shape. Requires the ability to coordinate body members in using job related equipment. May require the ability to differentiate colors and shades of color. Requires the ability to interact With people beyond giving the receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under minimal stress when confronted with an emergency.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED). 1-3 years' of experience in the operation of light to heavy-sized commercial vehicles.

High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) and 3 years' of experience in the operation of light to heavy-sized commercial vehicles is preferred
Licensures and Certifications
Must possess a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Class A or B endorsement; HAZ MAT certification (desired).
