Role We are seeking an experienced attorney with at least 6 years of relevant employment and corporate governance experience to join our expanding legal team. This individual will own all aspects of employment counseling and compliance, support the People team, and maintain corporate governance rigor as the company scales. This is a highly collaborative role designed for someone who can operate with precision, sensitivity, and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment. You will partner closely with leadership, People Operations, finance, and external advisors to ensure Function Health maintains best-in-class employment practices and corporate governance structures. Key Responsibilities: Employment Law • Provide day-to-day counseling on employment matters including hiring, performance management, compensation, accommodations, investigations, leaves of absence, and policy development. • Draft, update, and maintain employee handbooks, policies, and procedures across multiple states. • Manage and support internal workplace investigations, working closely with People and leadership teams. • Collaborate with external counsel on employment litigation, claims, or regulatory matters. • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and upcoming regulatory developments. Corporate Governance • Support the General Counsel in managing board and committee materials, consents, governance calendars, and corporate formalities. • Maintain corporate records, equity documentation, and entity management across jurisdictions. • Draft and review governance-related policies, charters, and internal governance documents. • Support fundraising, investor relations, and due diligence efforts as needed. Qualifications / Skills • 6+ years of employment and corporate governance experience, ideally with a combination of law firm and in-house training. • Strong understanding of multi-state employment law and HR compliance frameworks. • Experience supporting high-growth, dynamic organizations. • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to deliver clear, actionable guidance. • High integrity and discretion, particularly with sensitive and confidential information. • Excellent organizational, drafting, and project-management abilities. Great-to-Have • Experience in digital health, technology, consumer subscription services, or healthcare. • Experience with corporate governance in VC-backed organizations. • Familiarity with DEI and people-operations programs.
