Job Overview 

Director of Cloud FinOps & Data Platform Optimization will lead Marriott’s financial operations practice across cloud infrastructure and SaaS data platforms. This role will be responsible for translating cloud and data investment into measurable business value.

The Director will own the FinOps framework end-to-end, with a specialized focus on data-centric cloud products including query workload optimization, Snowflake and other SaaS data platform cost governance, and cloud-native data pipeline efficiency. Beyond cost management, this leader will drive a forward-looking product roadmap, champion cross-functional initiatives, and establish the governance structures needed to sustain a culture of cloud financial accountability.

Job Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Finance Technology, or related field. 
  • 8+ years of experience in application operations, financial systems, or enterprise data platforms. 
  • Expertise in financial data applications, ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP), and integration technologies. 
  • Strong understanding of Finops framework, data governance, compliance, and security standards for financial operations. 
  • Experience with automation tools, monitoring platforms, and incident management frameworks. 
  • Familiarity with cloud environments and modern DevOps practices. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. 

Job Duties 

  • Implement, operate, and continuously mature the FinOps framework across all cloud and SaaS data environments
  • Establish tagging taxonomy, cost allocation models, and chargeback/showback processes for accurate attribution of SAAS & cloud spend to business units
  • Define and execute operational strategy for financial data applications, ensuring alignment with Marriott’s enterprise technology roadmap. 
  • Implement automation and optimization initiatives to improve system reliability and reduce manual effort. 
  • Collaborate with Finance, Technology, and Security teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and audit requirements. 
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure adherence to SLAs for financial application support. 
  • Monitor KPIs for system uptime, performance, and operational efficiency; drive continuous improvement. 
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to operations teams, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
