JOB TITLE: Development & Partnerships Manager

REPORTS TO: Executive Director – Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Foundation

CLASSIFICATION: Full-time exempt. Hybrid position.

  • Location: Hybrid | Wayzata, MN

  • Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt

  • Salary: $85,000-$90,000 annually

  • Benefits: $500/month medical stipend (additional benefits may be added)


MISSION:

The Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Foundation’s (HCBCF) mission is to ease the financial burden for individuals living in Minnesota with breast cancer, and their families, allowing them to focus on healing. We provide compassionate, direct support for essential needs like housing, transportation, utilities, and food.


POSITION SUMMARY

We seek to hire a Development & Partnerships Manager who is responsible for donor fundraising, annual campaigns, and sponsorships that generate revenue and exposure for the foundation. This individual is a key member of our team and will work in close partnership with the Executive Director to:

  • Manage donor engagement and stewardship.

  • Lead the execution of annual fundraising campaigns (such as Give to the Max and year-end appeals).

  • Maintain and grow corporate sponsorships for events.

  • Support partnerships related to cause-marketing and fundraising events

  • Collaborate with marketing and communications partners for these areas (donor engagement, fundraising campaigns, sponsorships, and partnerships).

DEVELOPMENT

  • Effectively communicates the HCBCF mission and programs to donors, sponsors, partners, community partners, and corporations to raise funds for HCBCF’s highest impact priorities.

  • In partnership with the Executive Director, executes fundraising campaigns (e.g. Give to the Max, Year-End Appeal) and strategies to secure financial support from individuals and family foundations, as well as matching gifts from corporations, including sponsorships for events, third-party cause marketing relationships, and civic organizations.

  • Manages systems and processes to ensure coordinated donor engagement across all segments.

  • Monitors and analyzes donor fundraising outcomes (direct mail, events, and campaigns) and trends.

  • Identifies and cultivates new donor prospects to support annual fundraising goals.

  • Increases the number of quality donor prospects and existing donors.

  • Updates the database with call notes and new information about donors.

  • Works with the Executive Director to ensure understanding of the current program, identify opportunities for growth, and develop strategy to achieve that growth.

  • Ensures the accuracy and integrity of information collected.

SPONSORSHIPS

  • In partnership with the Executive Director, responsible for maintaining and attracting sponsors for the events and programs to meet or exceed determined budgets.

  • Attend meetings with active and prospective sponsors outlining the investment opportunities, follow-up emails and confirmation sheets to accounting, Hope Chest team, and events and marketing contractors.

  • Continual communication with sponsors.

  • Manages sponsor deliverables by reviewing with the events contractor and marketing/communications contractor.

  • Provides post-event thank you flyer to all sponsors.

  • Analyzes sponsorship participation to inform the organization’s next steps and fiscal planning.

FINANCIAL

  • Tracks progress toward assigned budget items to ensure fundraising goals are met and expenses are not exceeded.

  • Report on any budget variances to the Executive Director.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of development revenue goals within the overall organizational budget.

  • Prepare reports for Executive Director and board meetings as needed.

MARKETING/COMMUNICATIONS

  • Works with Hope Chest staff with the goal of broadening our donors and corporate businesses for the cause marketing events and programs.

  • Collaborates with marketing/communication contractor on strategy, messaging, and creative for annual campaigns, outreach/donor activation, social media, events, and newsletters.

  • Develops and sustains a network of broad local support through networking, attending special events, and building relationships with organizations and individuals who can support the work of HCBCF.

  • Represents HCBCF at industry, donor, and cause marketing events.

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and marketing/communication contractor, develop content for the fundraising campaigns and newsletters pertaining to fundraising activities.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

  • Provides regular development updates and reports to the Executive Director.

  • Prepare development updates and materials to support the Executive Director’s engagement with the Board regarding fundraising participation and sponsorship efforts.

OTHER

  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of full-time experience in nonprofit development/fundraising.

  • Minimum of 3 years full-time experience in creating and managing giving campaigns (year-end, matching, Give to the Max).

  • Minimum of 3 years’ full-time experience in raising and developing annual corporate sponsorships.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred, or certification program.

  • Prior experience securing gifts from new donors and growing donor gifts.

  • The ability and/or proven evidence to:

  • Communicate at an advanced level, oral or written.

  • Exhibit strong phone skills, for example: warm tone, good speaking cadence, clear and articulate speech.

  • Participate in a teamwork-driven environment.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in building relationships.

  • Exhibit effective interpersonal skills that demonstrate tact, patience, and courtesy.

  • Utilize Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge or other similar CRM systems with proficiency.

  • Manage time and task completion effectively.

  • Handle tasks independently.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Planned giving development.

  • Fundraising experience for corporate/private sponsorships.

  • Marketing experience.

  • Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge system.
