Job Description:

A Credit Officer is responsible for evaluating, structuring, and managing credit relationships by analyzing financial information, supporting lending activities, and ensuring sound credit decisions while adhering to bank policies and regulatory requirements.

Fundamental Job Duties and Key Responsibilities:

Credit Support and Business Development:

  • Support a consistent SBA credit and business development pace within the market, including but not limited to:
  • Assisting with telephone outreach strategies and documenting post-communication actions
  • Supporting client retention efforts through credit monitoring and analysis
  • Assisting with new client prospecting through financial reviews and credit research
  • Participating in outbound calls to support relationship and credit discussions
  • Supporting networking and referral-related initiatives
  • Maintain and support a strong Center of Influence (COI) network by providing reliable credit insights
  • Assist with sales-related activities by conducting credit assessments, supporting loan structuring, assembling and submitting SBA loan packages, participating in client interviews, and evaluating borrower character
  • Build internal and external partnerships to strengthen credit and business relationships

Credit Analysis and Risk Management:

  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of commercial and SBA credit products and lending options
  • Develops appropriate loan terms and structures aligned with business needs, asset life cycles, and growth strategies
  • Analyzes business and personal financial statements and tax returns to assess creditworthiness and risk exposure
  • Evaluates short- and long-term credit needs based on business sales cycles and projected growth initiatives
  • Advises clients and internal partners on underwriting standards, SBA programs, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Collaborates with attorneys, loan closing agents, and internal teams to ensure timely loan closing and funding
  • Balances business objectives and customer expectations while actively managing credit risk
  • Adheres to the ethical and professional standards outlined in Seacoast Bank’s Code of Conduct
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to junior SBA lending professionals
  • Ensures compliance with bank policies and procedures, including BSA, AML, and OFAC requirements
  • Reviews loan applications and gathers required applicant documentation while maintaining fair lending and ethical sales practices
  • Addresses credit-related customer concerns promptly and professionally, escalating issues when appropriate

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • College degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in SBA lending, credit analysis, or underwriting preferred
  • At least ten years of experience in financial services, credit, or business banking roles
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with desktop computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and Microsoft Office Suite applications
