Are you someone who enjoys being the operational backbone of a busy team? Do you thrive in hands-on roles where keeping people, spaces, and activity running smoothly really matters? Signature Recruitment is pleased to be recruiting a Centre Administrator for a well-regarded London university that has recently expanded following significant investment.

This is a full-time, temporary role based in London, offering an hourly rate of £23.41. The role is fully office-based, working five days per week across a 35-hour working week. Core hours are flexible, but the nature of the role suits someone who enjoys being present when activity is happening and colleagues need support.

The Centre Administrator plays a central role in keeping the Centre running smoothly day to day. Acting as a key point of contact for the team and visitors, the role supports a dynamic mix of researchers, academics, and professional colleagues. The role has a strong operational focus, combining office coordination, facilities, events, and people support to ensure the Centre functions efficiently as it continues to grow. Reporting directly to the Centre Manager, this is a highly visible, people-facing position for someone who enjoys variety, responsibility, and being the go-to person.

Centre Administrator - Key Responsibilities:
  • Keep the Centre’s office environment running smoothly, coordinating facilities, equipment, and supporting changes to space and layout as the team grows
  • Provide a welcoming, front-facing presence for the Centre, supporting colleagues and visitors and acting as a reliable first point of contact
  • Support recruitment and onboarding activity, helping coordinate interviews, tasks, IT access, and practical setup for new starters and visitors
  • Help plan and deliver a wide range of events, from informal team activities to complex or high-profile meetings and visits
  • Provide responsive administrative and occasional executive-style support to Directors when needed, particularly around events or external engagement
  • Act as a general point of coordination across the team, supporting collaboration, team activity, and the smooth flow of day-to-day work
Centre Administrator - Key Skills:
  • Proven experience in office or centre administration, ideally within a higher education or research environment
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities
  • Calm, adaptable approach and confidence working with ambiguity
  • Strong people skills, with a friendly, proactive, and team-focused working style

This role will suit someone who enjoys being at the centre of activity, takes pride in making things work behind the scenes, and is comfortable balancing practical tasks with coordination and operational responsibility. If you are proactive, approachable, and keen to play a key role in a growing research environment, we would be pleased to hear from you.
