Job Description:

A Business Banking Officer provides tailored financial solutions to small and mid-sized business clients by supporting daily banking needs, opening and maintaining business accounts, managing credit relationships, and recommending appropriate banking products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development:

  • Quickly establish and maintain a consistent SBA-focused business development cadence within the marketplace, including but not limited to:
  • Planning client outreach calls and managing follow-up activities
  • Conducting client retention and relationship management calls
  • Prospecting new business banking clients
  • Engaging in outbound telephone communications with external parties
  • Participating in networking and community events
  • Support and expand a well-established Center of Influence (COI) network of community and business leaders to generate referrals
  • Oversee sales activities, analyze credit profiles, structure loans appropriately, prepare and submit SBA loan applications, conduct client meetings, and assess borrower qualifications
  • Source and develop new relationships to support portfolio growth and business expansion

Credit Acumen:

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of business banking credit products and financing options
  • Tailors loan terms and product solutions to align with business needs, asset life cycles, and growth strategies
  • Reviews business and personal financial statements and tax returns to evaluate creditworthiness and lending risk
  • Estimates short- and long-term credit needs based on business sales cycles and growth plans
  • Educates prospective clients on bank underwriting standards, SBA programs, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Collaborates with attorneys, loan closing agents, and internal partners to ensure timely loan closing and funding
  • Balances business objectives with customer needs while proactively managing risk exposure
  • Adheres to ethical standards outlined in Seacoast Bank’s Code of Conduct
  • Supports the development of junior SBA lenders through mentoring and guidance
  • Ensures compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements, including BSA, AML, and OFAC
  • Reviews loan requests and gathers required applicant documentation while maintaining fair lending and ethical sales practices
  • Resolves customer concerns promptly and professionally, escalating issues as appropriate

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • College degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in SBA lending or business banking preferred
  • At least ten years of experience in business development and/or financial services
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with desktop computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and Microsoft Office applications
