What will you do?

Siemens Digital Industries is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Application Engineer / Specialist – Automationand Industrial Networking to join our Sales Acceleration Team. As a key contributor, you will support the growth of Siemens factory automation, industrial control, and solutions across Canada.

In this customer-facing role, you will work closely with the field sales organization and strategic partners to provide expert technical guidance, develop automation architectures, and support customers throughout the entire sales lifecycle.

Technical Expertise & Customer Support

  • Serve as the technical expert for factory automation solutions in Canada.
  • Analyze customer requirements and develop proof-of-concept system architectures and recommend suitable products
  • Provide advanced technical support, including on-site troubleshooting, system optimization, and commissioning assistance.
  • Prepare and deliver technical proposals, demos, and prototype solutions.
  • Support customers in debugging control systems, tuning machine functions, and improving machine performance.

Solution Development & Implementation

  • Collaborate with Siemens Sales, authorized distributors, and Solution Partners to demonstrate Siemens automation technologies.
  • Size and design automation solutions based on specific application requirements.
  • Influence customers and integrators on effective utilization of SIMATIC platforms.
  • Develop sales enablement materials, demo programs, and application notes/white papers.
  • Support Product Marketing with launches, seminars, workshops, and customer events.

Knowledge Transfer & Collaboration

  • Deliver technical training and knowledge transfer to customers, Siemens teams, and channel partners.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and best-practice guidance to engineering teams.
  • Coordinate with Siemens HQ and Competence Centres for complex project requirements.
  • Stay current with evolving technologies and industry trends.
  • Maintain an annual learning and development plan focused on technical and professional growth.
  • Promote the adoption of advanced automation technologies to enhance customer competitiveness.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree/Diploma in Electrical, Computer, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience with factory automation systems.
  • Strong understanding of industrial applications involving factory automation products.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial automation platforms and networks.
  • PLC or software programming experience (Ladder Logic, Structured Text, STL, C++, JavaScript, Visual Basic, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French (bi-lingual preferred).
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel nationally on short notice up to 30%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with OEMs or system integrators.
  • Knowledge in:
    • Industrial networks
    • HMI and SCADA products
    • Factory and process automation
    • PLCs and controllers
    • Machine safety
    • Proof-of-concept development
    • Siemens SIMATIC platforms (preferred)
  • CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional)
  • Google Cybersecurity and/or Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate certification is a plus
  • Action-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
[Salary is commensurate with experience, and ranges between $ 90,000 CAD - $ 130,000 CAD, excluding bonus and benefits. In addition to base salary, this role includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus ranging from 10% to 18% of base salary, based on Company performance metrics.]
