POSITION SUMMARY

The Part-Time position will support the Tiger team mission of delivering against the City of McComb 2026 plan. Assistant will perform routine duties to support the coordination of required deliverables in support of all financial document for FY, 2022 thru FY, 2025. Responsibilities include but are not limited to collecting required documents, reviewing data, auditing and reporting to support the Consultant audit team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING DUTIES. ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS MAY BE IDENTIFIED BY THE CITY AND LISTED AS SUCH IN THE INCUMBENT’S PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL ELEMENTS. VARIOUS TASKS MAY BE ASSIGNED UNDER EACH ESSENTIAL FUNCTION. THOSE THAT ARE LISTED UNDER THE EXAMPLES OF WORK ARE NOT ALL INCLUSIVE; THEY ARE EXAMPLES ONLY AND MAY BE AMENDED OR ADDED TO AS NEEDED BY THE CITY OF McCOMB.

  • Assist the City Administrator, Comptroller, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing
  • Support entering financial updates as requested to support financial updates
  • Support the accounting KPI records and documentation
  • Collecting and reviewing bank and account reconciliations
  • Reviewing basic financial reports and spreadsheets
  • Reviewing process invoices and verify financial transactions
  • Assist with payroll documentation as needed
  • Respond to internal inquiries regarding financial records
  • Reviewing and monitoring month-end closing procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

INCUMBENT PERFORMS OTHER JOB-RELATED TASKS AS ASSIGNED AND REQUIRED; ANY DUTIES/TASKS INCLUDED IN THE EMPLOYEE'S PERFORMANCE EVALUATION ELEMENTS ARE ESSENTIAL TO THAT EMPLOYEE'S POSITION WITHIN THE JOB CLASSIFICATION.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
  • High school diploma required
  • 5-7 years of bookkeeping or accounting support experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles & GASB Standards
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, AS400, & accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to maintain City of McComb record confidentiality

OTHER SPECIAI REQUIREMENTS AND RESTRICTIONS

Maintain a current, valid State driver’s license.
