2026 Nursing Student Scholarship
Job Description Summary

This scholarship program is designed to support nursing students in completing a BSN or higher nursing programs who upon graduation the recipient will be guaranteed a job at VHC Health, in return they will commit to working at the organization after graduation for a minimum of two years (3744 hours). This opportunity is also available to current employees, who are also guaranteed a nursing job upon graduation if they are not already in a nursing role.  Current employees will be committed to work for two years (3744 hours) of employment from the date of receiving scholarship funds or from the time they begin working as an RN at the organization.


Job Description

Deadline:

Applications and all accompanying documents must be submitted no later than December 5th, 2025. Incomplete applications as of December 5th, will not move forward to the selection process.

 

Criteria:

  • Full-Time Nursing students of an accredited Nursing Program with a graduation date after August 2026
    *** Internal applicants are exempt from the graduation date
  • Students must have completed at least 1 clinical rotation if this is their first nursing degree.
  • Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher for the previous two full semesters or 30-36 academic credits
  • Transcript (unofficial or official) from current nursing program must be submitted. A transcript from the student's high school must be submitted for a newly enrolled student.

Conditions:

  • The scholarship recipient must take the licensing exam (NCLEX) at the first available date following graduation.
  • For new graduate RNs, employment as a Registered Nurse at VHC Health  must begin at the first available new graduate program start date, following obtaining nursing licensure.
  • Employment will be offered based on positions available at the time of the student's graduation. If there are no positions available, or if the Hospital is unable to offer a position, the obligation to the Hospital will be considered satisfied. The money awarded would not have to be repaid.
  • Scholarship recipients who do not fulfill their commitment to be employed, or do not complete their academic program are required to repay scholarship funds. Monies will be due in full within three months of graduation, or withdraw from the nursing program.

Current VHC Employees:

Current employees with VHC Health are eligible to apply once they have completed their 90 day probationary period and do not have any active discipline in order to be considered

  • Two letters of recommendation (one from current PCD/supervisor, one from a clinical or didactic  instructor)
  • Transcript from your nursing program (official or unofficial)
  • Personal Statement – in 250 words or less, please present a personal statement on why you wish to pursue employment at VHC Health and what makes you the best candidate for the award.

  • Complete the Talent Plus Assessment (sent to you automatically after completing application). Please ensure you commit focused time to complete this portion of the application
  • Two letters of recommendation from clinical or didactic instructors
  • Transcript from your nursing program (official or unofficial)
  • Personal Statement – in 250 words or less, please present a personal statement on why you wish to pursue employment at VHC Health and what makes you the best candidate for the award
